Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone set to go live on 01 June 2021.

DEFRA are now looking forward to Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone which goes live on 01 June 2021.

We are proud to confirm that entire Chambers & Cook fleet will be 100% Euro 6 compliant by this date. We have invested in the latest cleanest and most efficient vehicles over the last 12 months. That’s 18 new vehicles at £1.5M!

From 1 June 2021 onwards vehicles of specified classes that do not meet the emissions standards set out in the order will, subject to specified exemptions, be required to pay the charge stated in the order to drive in the Birmingham Clean Air Zone. Owners of high polluting vehicles will be charged to drive within the A4540 Middleway (but not the Middleway itself).

Non-compliant buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, vans, minibuses and cars travelling in Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone will have to pay a charge.

In preparation for Birmingham’s Clean Air Zone members can:

  • Check to see if they qualify for local exemptions using the following link Exemptions and financial incentives | Brum Breathes
  • Check the financial support on offer Financial incentives | Brum Breathes
  • Sign up for Business Accounts where you can check compliance of multiple vehicles and set up an agreement for the Birmingham Clean Air Zone to pay by bank account as an alternative to paying by card.

You can also check if your vehicle meets the emission standards on the GOV website: https://www.gov.uk/clean-air-zones
