Industrial action at Heathrow airport

Europe’s busiest, and the UK’s largest, airport faces industrial action with around 4,000 Heathrow staff including security guards and engineers planning to strike in a dispute over pay.

Strikes are planned for the following dates:

  • 26th and 27th of July
  • 5th and 6th of August and
  • 23rd and 24th of August

UPDATE AS OF 24th July, 17:00 BST

We are advised that the first of the strikes that was scheduled for the 26th and 27th July has been suspended whilst the latest pay offer is considered. The dates for the other proposed strikes remain the same and have not been cancelled.

As some contingency actions may have already been taken, BIFA recommends that members should speak to their Carriers to avoid disruption and continue to monitor the situation closely.

Safety & security will be priority throughout and air traffic may be restricted as a result.

We’re working with our partner airlines and suppliers on assessing possible impact and contingency plans to limit / manage any potential delays resulting from the proposed strikes.

We will continue to monitor the situation and will keep you updated of any further developments.

If you have any concerns on specific shipments, please speak to your Chambers & Cook of contact or get in touch here.
